Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People tend to assume work accidents are open-and-shut thanks to things like OSHA and workers’ comp. In reality, Texas has the most complex work injury law of any other state in the country. This is due to the fact that employers aren’t required to subscribe to the workers’ comp system. This creates situations where victims and families think they’re going to get benefits only to find their very own employer is working against the employee’s best interests. That’s why ensuring workers can get a fair resolution after a work accident usually requires anticipating this legal maze and having the tools and allies to navigate it.
