Midland, TX — March 21, 2024, two people were injured in a car accident following a police chase at approximately 1:15 a.m. along Bankhead Highway.

According to authorities, two people were occupants of an allegedly stolen car in the vicinity of of Midkiff Road and West Wall Street when police initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to comply with the stop, allegedly fleeing the scene, and a chase ensued.

Officials indicate that the suspect vehicle made it westbound on Bankhead Highway before failing to safely navigate a curve in the road. It reportedly veered off of the road and collided with a tree before it ignited with flames.

The two occupants of the vehicle incurred suspected severe injuries and were transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
