Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

People might think a Texas lawyer wouldn’t know much about a pile-up on a snowy, icy interstate. But not that long ago, we had a massive, deadly pile-up here in DFW during a winter storm. Even down here, investigations ultimately determined it wasn’t the weather that caused the crash; it was the behavior of certain drivers failing to adjust for the dangerous conditions.

So up north, where winter weather is a lot more common, the road conditions aren’t likely to be much more than just extenuating circumstances that drivers can typically adjust for. As such, it’s important investigations dig below the surface and find out what actually set all of this into motion. In my experience, it was likely something avoidable.
