Smith County, TX — December 13, 2023, a pedestrian was killed in a truck accident just after 10:30 p.m. along Interstate Highway 20.
According to reports, a 65-year old man was reportedly walking on foot in the right-hand lane of travel on Interstate Highway 20 in the vicinity just west of the Howell Lake Road bridge when the accident took place.
Authorities state that the pedestrian was struck by an eastbound 18-wheeler which had a trailer in tow. The collision threw the man over a guardrail on the south side of the highway where he came to rest in the shoulder. The victim incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the accident, having been declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
