Houston County, TX — February 15, 2024, one person was injured in a pedestrian versus truck accident at approximately 5:00 a.m. along U.S. 287.

According to authorities, a 43-year-old man was on foot in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 287 in the vicinity south of Farm to Market 2423 when the accident occurred.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the pedestrian was struck by the sideview mirror on the passenger side of a southbound Peterbilt 18-wheeler. The man was then hit by the front right corner of the 18-wheeler’s trailer. He incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident and was flown to an area medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive immediate treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
