How Did This Accident Occur?

At this point, it is not clear why this accident happened. Was the pedestrian walking in the road or trying to cross it? Did the Jeep driver see the pedestrian? Was he distracted or fatigued? Did the Jeep have an issue its brakes or steering mechanism? These are the kind of things authorities must consider as they investigate this crash.

Finding answers should be easier than in some hit-and-run accident investigations because authorities already have found the Jeep. Its engine control module will yield data on speed, braking and steering inputs at the time.
