Accident Report

July 20, 2026, man was injured due to a pedestrian versus hit-and-run car accident at approximately 1:00 a.m. along Fuqua Street.

According to authorities, a 21-year-old man was on foot, walking at the intersection of Fuqua Street and Randolph Street when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Porsche Macan failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. A collision consequently occurred involving the pedestrian, the Porsche, and a commercial sign.

The pedestrian reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. The two people who had been in the Porsche apparently fled the scene, leaving the Porsche to be towed. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Hit-and-run accidents can be frustrating for those waiting for answers. After over three decades in this line of work, I’ve seen plenty of pedestrian-involved hit-and-run cases. It’s not uncommon for those that occur in the middle of the night like this one did to have involved alcohol. Was that the case here, as well? Let’s face it, if the people in that car had not had something they dearly wished to hide from authorities, then they would not have left the scene. Heck, seeing as how they abandoned the vehicle, it could even have been a joy ride gone wrong.

Thankfully, modern investigative techniques are better than ever; hit-and-run cases are solved more often than people might think. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or, if need be, a third party—get to the bottom of this one sooner than later. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve the answers they’ve been waiting for.
