Accident Report
March 28, 2026, a pedestrian was injured as the result of a hit-and-run accident at around 9:24 p.m. along Probandt Street.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened in the area of the Probandt Street and Steves Avenue intersection.
It appears that a 23-year-old man was in the area of southbound lanes at the time. While there, authorities say that a black Jeep going southbound struck the pedestrian. That vehicle then fled the scene.
Due to the collision, the pedestrian was seriously injured. It’s unclear at this time if authorities located the driver.
How Did This Accident Occur?
While pedestrian accidents can involve all kinds of factors, hit-and-runs often involve a driver doing something wrong, then running because they’re scared of police finding out. Alcohol, for example, often leads to drivers fleeing. So do drugs. But it could also be something separate led to the accident and the driver fleeing, respectively. Warrants are also a common reason drivers flee.
The story might never be complete unless authorities identify and locate the runaway driver. With that in mind, is there any more information authorities can release to the public? A lot of the time, these situations see a resolution because someone in the community connects the dots and comes forward with a name or can point authorities in the right direction. Even months after an accident, I’ve seen runaway drivers caught thanks to continued pressure and vigilance. The same could very well happen here.
