Accident Report

April 8, 2026, a man was injured following a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at around 2:42 a.m. along Michigan Avenue.

According to initial details about the incident, it took place at Michigan Avenue and Ridgewood Court, just north of Hildebrand.

It appears that a 37-year-old man was on foot at the time in the area of Michigan and Ridgewood. A vehicle was going southbound when it struck the man, then left the scene.

Due to the collision, the pedestrian sustained serious injuries. It’s unclear if authorities ever located or identified the driver.

How Did This Accident Occur?

While pedestrian accidents can happen for all kinds of reasons, a driver leaving the scene raises all kinds of red flags. The fact this happened during peak hours for drunk driving is also very concerning. If authorities have yet to locate the driver, have they put up fliers or canvassed the neighborhood? The suspect might actually live nearby. Or, maybe a nearby resident had a camera with a view of the road that could help the investigations. In my experience, hit-and-runs can see a resolution when authorities utilize the public and get the community to help. Maybe the same could prove helpful here.
