Accident Report
April 17, 2026, one person sustained injuries following a car versus pedestrian accident that happened around 5:00 a.m. on Avenue M.
It appears that the collision took place just south of the Avenue M and 7th Street intersection. Authorities said that a 29-year-old man was on foot at the time along southbound Avenue M. A vehicle going southbound struck the man, then reportedly fled the scene.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries in the accident. It’s unclear if the authorities ever located the driver.
How Did This Accident Occur?
A lot of people are quick to assume pedestrians are in the wrong in these accidents, but drivers don’t usually flee when they’ve done nothing wrong. One has to wonder if the driver was driving drunk, had warrants, or was in possession of something they shouldn’t have been. Locating runaway drivers is obviously a good first step to getting answers.
To that end, were authorities able to obtain any video from a nearby home? That could help give them a better idea of the vehicle they’re looking for, and they could also publish the images publicly so the community can help, as well. The more eyes there are on these situations, the better the odds there will be a resolution.
