As open-and-shut as this may seem, an alleged drunk driver facing charges likely isn’t the end of the story. It’s important investigators find out where that alcohol came from and whether or not it was unlawfully over-served.

Put simply, it’s unlawful for alcohol providers in Texas to serve someone who is obviously intoxicated. If they do so, they can be responsible for contributing to harm resulting from that intoxication. As such, if authorities move on just because there’s a driver being charged, they could be missing a crucial opportunity to make the roads safer for everyone.
