How Did This Accident Occur?
When people see a vehicle hitting a pedestrian on a dark highway, they figure everything is open-and-shut. After all, that’s not exactly a safe place for a pedestrian to be. But there could always be extenuating circumstances to consider. As such, there should still be thorough investigations.
Was this area well-lit? Is there a crosswalk here? Was the victim trying to wave down the vehicle? Was alcohol a factor? Was there some kind of emergency? Was the driver on their phone or otherwise distracted? Is this area known for being dangerous for pedestrians? It’s important that investigators answer these questions, even if it’s just to rule out something unusual. If nothing else, there’s likely a family out there who deserves answers.
