How Did This Accident Occur?
Upon hearing about pedestrian-involved accidents like this one, most folks will be hyper focused on who had the right-of-way at the time of the collision. I don’t want to detract from the importance of that question; however, if the authorities are being as thorough and open-minded as they should be, then it’s far from the only factor they will be considering. For example, seeing as how the accident took place later at night, it might be prudent for them to look into the possibility that visibility, speed, or alcohol were factors. And those are just a few possibilities. It’s up to investigators to look into every angle, no matter how unlikely, in order to ensure that the people affected by this accident end up with a clear and detailed understanding as to how and why it occurred. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
