Richardson, TX — February 8, 2024, a teenager was injured in a pedestrian versus car accident at around 4:45 p.m. along Coit Road.

According to authorities, a 16-year-old boy was attempting to cross Coit Road from west to east in the vicinity south of Lamp Post Lane when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the pedestrian failed to yield the right of way to motor vehicle traffic, stepping off of the center median and into the left-most northbound lane as traffic was approaching. As a result, the teen was struck by a northbound Kia Sorento.

The victim incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident. He was transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
