Accident Report

April 5, 2026, a man sustained injuries following a car versus pedestrian accident around 9:10 p.m. along Bell Street.

According to initial details about the accident, it happened in the area of the Bell Street and Southwest 9th Avenue intersection, just south of Amarillo Boulevard.

Authorities said that a 78-year-old man was on foot in the area. A Chrysler 300 was going southbound on Bell Street. Somehow, the vehicle struck the man in the roadway.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. The driver had no reported injuries. Additional details are unavailable at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

While this appears to be a busy roadway where it might be dangerous for pedestrians, this road is also lined by homes. I imagine it wouldn’t be unusual for people to be out and about even at this time of the evening.

The question is if the pedestrian was clearly visible and avoidable. If not, then the driver simply might not have had a way of avoiding the accident. On the other hand, evidence might show that a driver paying attention and driving at appropriate speeds would have been able to avoid the accident. That would raise questions about what could have been different here.

If anyone is local to the area, let me know in the comments what your thoughts are.
