Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
A common mistake I see from folks after accidents like this is thinking that charges against a driver make the situation open-and-shut. In reality, charges may just scratch the surface. Authorities often move on once charges have been filed, but a serious accident still needs a careful reconstruction that covers the incident from all angles. Not all evidence is obvious, and a lot of it is time-sensitive. So if authorities didn’t act quick to preserve important evidence, there could still be more to the story. Were steps taken to preserve evidence here?
