Accident Report
March 22, 2026, one person was injured as the result of a car accident at around 2:50 a.m. along Gessner Road.
Authorities said that the crash took place at the intersection of South Gessner Road and Sands Point Drive in west Houston.
According to officials, a man was on foot at the time along southbound lanes of Gessner. Authorities say that a 2006 blue Honda Odyssey struck the pedestrian, then reportedly left the scene.
As a result of the collision, the pedestrian was seriously injured. It’s unclear if authorities identified or charged the driver. Additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
This early in the morning, people might just assume this involved a pedestrian being in the road when they shouldn’t have been. That’s possible, but some of the reasons drivers flee the scene (as allegedly happened here) involve a driver making a mistake. For example, drunk driving is all too common at this time of day. Could it be the driver couldn’t react in time due to intoxication, then fled to avoid getting in trouble for driving drunk? Hopefully authorities have been able to identify the driver and clear that up behind the scenes, but it could be there’s still more that needs attention here.
