Accident Report

July 19, 2026, a woman was killed following a car versus pedestrian accident at around 1:00 a.m. along Cullen Boulevard.

According to initial statement from officials, the accident happened at Cullen Boulevard and Sunflower Street, just north of Bellfort Avenue.

It appears that a woman was on foot in the area of Cullen Boulevard at the time. That’s when, according to officials, an unknown vehicle struck the woman and fled the scene. A Jeep Grand Cherokee then hit the woman a second time. That vehicle apparently remained on-scene.

Due to the accident, the woman sustained fatal injuries. The Jeep driver does not currently face any charges. Authorities have not released information about the suspected runaway driver.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Pedestrian accidents can sometimes be more challenging than folks may realize. They’re not always just a matter of knowing who had the right-of-way. Things like lighting, road design, distractions, and other environmental factors are important to consider, as well. Of course, a driver leaving the scene makes that more challenging. My hope is authorities have canvassed the surrounding area for video footage that may have captured the suspect vehicle on video. A lot of homes and businesses have cameras these days, so someone could help authorities publish an image of that vehicle. Then, members of the public could take a look, and someone might be able to help connect the dots and see that driver answers for their actions.
