How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people likely would attribute this crash to fatigue or driver error, but what if another vehicle forced the Nissan into the barrier? Or the truck had a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? I’m not claiming to know what happened on I-30, but I have been part of enough accident investigations to know that is no substitute for a thorough investigation.

Investigators must consider all possible causes for this crash, even if they seem unlikely, because eliminating potential causes will help them zero in on what really happened. Answers will come from evidence at the scene, data from the Nissan and any available video footage of the crash. A qualified expert may be needed to examine the truck in a laboratory setting if there is any indication that a mechanical issue contributed to the crash.
