Hays County, TX — July 30, 2025, Patricia Olive and one other were injured due to a car accident at around 1:57 p.m. along Ranch-to-Market 12.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened just south of the RM 12 and US 290 intersection.

Investigators said that 73-year-old Patricia Olive was in a Ford Fiesta going southbound on RM 12. A Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling northbound. That vehicle reportedly went on the wrong side of the road, and the two vehicles collided.
Due to the crash, Patricia Olive was seriously injured. The other driver had moderate injuries. Authorities say that the Hyundai driver may have been drinking, but details remain unconfirmed.

It doesn’t surprise me to see authorities mention the possibility of alcohol here. Frankly, it would be more surprising if they didn’t. People might think the time of day would make alcohol less likely, but they can certainly happen in the middle of the afternoon.
I’ve handled hundreds of cases involving drunk drivers. It’s not just people on their way home from bars. Many are out drinking at lunch, during early happy hours, after coming from a gas station or liquor store, or just about any other time when establishments are open. So while it’s possible this was just a crash caused by ordinary negligence, it’s important to consider the possibility someone was behind the wheel when they shouldn’t have been.
