Accident Report

August 22, 2026, a man was injured following a car accident in a parking lot off East Houston Street at around 2:00 a.m.

Preliminary statements on the accident say that it happened in a parking lot off the corner of the Houston Street and I-37 intersection.

According to officials, an unidentified man was in the parking lot at the time, reportedly sleeping. While there, a vehicle ran over the man. That vehicle left the scene.

The man was taken to a hospital with reportedly non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not reported finding out identifying a suspect at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

There are a lot of potential factors that could be at play here. However, it’s my experience that a driver leaving an accident scene at 2:00 a.m. on a weekend was very likely drunk. It could explain what led to the accident, and it could explain why they didn’t want to stick around and speak to authorities. Of course, finding out for sure will likely require finding the driver. I wonder if there were any nearby cameras authorities could check that might have caught the incident or the suspect vehicle on video. That stuff is usually time sensitive, so the sooner investigators look, the better their odds of getting vital evidence.
