Accident Report
July 22, 2026, Paisley Pollock and another person were injured due to a car accident at approximately 12:45 a.m. along U.S. Highway 287.
According to authorities, a 49-year-old man and 28-year-old Paisley Pollock were traveling in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on U.S. 287 at Business U.S. 287 when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Silverado struck a Ford F-150.
Pollock, who had a passenger in the Silverado, reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. The man who had been behind the wheel of the Silverado suffered minor injuries, as well, according to reports. It does not appear that anyone from the Ford was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Without more details, I’m sure it will be hard for some people to avoid making the assumption that the accident must have been a result of driver error. I’m not ready to settle on that conclusion before the investigation is complete, though. Why? Because I have been in this line of work for over three decades. In that time, I have seen plenty of cases in which evidence of causes that were far from likely ended up being uncovered through thorough investigation.
That’s not to say that I know more about this accident than is already publicly know, by the way. As far as I am aware, driver error—whether it was due to distraction, fatigue, impairment, et cetera—remains on the table as a possible cause. However, I would like to suggest a hypothetical. What if, rather than driver error, the wreck was a result of something gone wrong with the Silverado itself? For example, maybe it was dealing with brake failure? Or perhaps its throttle somehow got stuck in the open position? Have tire blowouts or steering mechanism issues been considered? I do understand that these scenarios are highly unlikely, but that does not mean they should automatically be ruled out.
An in-depth vehicle inspection done by trained professionals in a laboratory setting would be able to shed light on any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role in the wreck which might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or, if need be, a third party—get one done. That way nothing important will inadvertently be allowed to slip through the cracks. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve more than just vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation.
