How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not clear at this point who this accident happened. Did one of these drivers ignore a traffic signal? Was one fatigued or distracted? Did one of the vehicles have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? I don’t claim to know the answers to these questions, but they are the ones that authorities should consider as they investigate the crash.

Physical evidence, witness statements, data from both vehicles and any available video footage should aid in accident reconstruction, while cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.

If authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash, an outside expert likely will be needed to conduct a forensic examination on the vehicles because most law enforcement agencies don’t have the necessary time or training for such inspections, in my experience.

This investigation should provide the families affected by this crash with a clear picture of what happened at this intersection.
