Laredo, TX — March 1, 2025, Orlando Benedetto was killed as the result of a car accident that happened around 10:44 p.m. on I-35.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened along southbound lanes of the interstate near Exit 3A for Calton Road.
Investigators said that 32-year-old Orlando Benedetto was on a bicycle going along southbound lanes of I-35. It appears that a vehicle struck Benedetto, putting him in the roadway. After this, a second vehicle struck Benedetto. The first vehicle reportedly didn’t stay at the scene while the second driver stayed and called 911.
Due to the accident, Orlando Benedetto was killed. No other injuries were reported. Right now, no further information is available.

With another driver reportedly being involved, my hope is authorities are hard at work looking for evidence that can identify that driver. Whether that’s debris at the scene, dash cams, or traffic or security cams, the public needs information. Often when someone leaves an accident scene, someone in the public can help authorities connect dots and come up with new details. That way, steps may be taken both to see there are appropriate consequences here and that the victim’s loved ones get the closure they deserve.
