Accident Report
Cameron, TX — March 6, 2026, one person was killed and another was injured in a truck accident at about 11 p.m. in the 2200 block of North Travis Avenue/U.S. Highway 77.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2022 Ram 2500 with a trailer was heading north when it collided with a 2025 Volvo semi-truck that was slowing down or stopping for an unknown reason.
A 23-year-old man riding in the Ram died from injuries suffered in the crash, while another passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the report.
The Ram driver, a 25-year-old man, and a 21-year-old man in the front seat suffered minor injuries, the report states.
The truck driver was not injured, according to the report.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Milam County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Initial reports indicate the Volvo semi-truck was slowing or stopped, so my first thought is to wonder if it had activated its hazard lights to alert other drivers. That is a simple requirement for all truck drivers to help keep everyone on the road safe.
We don’t know it that was done prior to this crash, but I expect that to be one of the first things authorities look at in their investigation, assuming they have any experience with commercial vehicle accidents.
Investigators also should scrutinize evidence from the scene, data from both trucks, witness statements and any available traffic or dashcam footage to reconstruct this accident.
