It’s unclear at this point why this motorcycle crashed into the rear of a semi-truck. Did the truck stop suddenly? Did its trailer not have working brake lights? Did the motorcycle have an issue with its brakes or throttle? These are the kind of things that authorities must consider as they’re investigating this accident.
Investigators likely will gather physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage as they would after any other accident, but they should also seek an in-depth inspection of the motorcycle. Motorcycles are more complex machines than most people realize, and they are more vulnerable to mechanical problems than other vehicles.
The fallen rider’s family deserves to know as much as possible about this crash, so a thorough investigation is essential.
