Accident Report

Fruit Cove, FL — April 8, 2026, a motorcyclist was killed in a truck accident at about 10:10 p.m. on State Road 13.

Authorities said a northbound semi-truck was turning right into a private parking lot when it collided with a motorcycle that had been in the right lane.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old Jacksonville man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash south of Otoes Place, according to authorities. His name has not been made public yet.

The truck driver was not injured, authorities said.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the St. Johns County crash at this time. The accident is still under investigation.

How Did This Accident Occur?

The key question for investigators in this crash, in my opinion, is whether the truck driver was aware of the motorcycle when it started its turn. Professional drivers should be aware of their surroundings at all times, especially when making a turn or another maneuver.

Investigators should pore over evidence from the scene, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available dashcam or security camera footage to piece together how this crash unfolded. A forensic examination could determine if the truck had any mechanical issues that might have contributed to this crash.
