How Did This Accident Occur?

Crashes like this are unusual, but they still warrant a proper investigation to determine how this crash happened.

Investigators should start by reviewing data from the truck’s engine control module, which should show how fast it was going and whether it tried to slow down before the crash. In-cab camera footage, if available, could show what the driver saw in the moments before the crash. Cell phone records also could show if the driver was distracted.

Visibility and signage also could be relevant to this probe. Was the buggy equipped with lights or reflective materials? Was it traveling in an area where such slow-moving vehicles are common? These details have not been made public yet.

It’s also worth asking some questions about the trucking company’s hiring and training practices. What the driver well qualified for the job? Were there any red flags that might suggest a pattern of poor decision-making? I’ve handled cases before where a driver was fired for unsafe conduct multiple times, only to be hired by a company that did not do a proper background check.

In my experience, getting to the truth about this accident will require digging deeper than just the official report, but the families affected by this accident deserve to how is responsible for this crash.
