How Did This Accident Occur?
It isn’t clear at this point whether one or both of these vehicles left its lane before the collision. Was one driver fatigued or distracted? Did another vehicle cause the truck or pickup to swerve out of its lane? Did either vehicle have an issue with its brakes, throttle or steering mechanism? These are the kind of questions that authorities must consider as they investigate this crash.
Vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and any available video footage should help investigators reconstruct the crash, while cell phone records could show what each one was doing at the time.
If authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash, the vehicles should be examined by a qualified expert in a laboratory setting. Most law enforcement agencies do not have the time or training for such inspections, but the pickup driver’s family deserves to know as much as possible about what caused this crash.
