Accident Report
Richwood, TX — August 9, 2026, one person was killed in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 3:30 a.m. in the 31000 block of Bayou Bend Drive.
Authorities said several people were riding in a 2017 Can-Am Maverick X3 that went off the road and overturned near Amberjack Drive.
A 33-year-old woman whose name has not been made public yet died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to authorities. The driver and two other passengers suffered minor injuries.
The UTV driver, a 38-year-old man, was charged with intoxication manslaughter after the crash, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Brazoria County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
This crash should be investigated like any other fatal accident, but authorities should dig a little deeper if blood tests confirm that the UTV driver was intoxicated. They should try to determine where he had been drinking before the crash.
That matters because under Texas law alcohol providers can share responsible for injuries caused by patrons who were served while obviously intoxicated.
I don’t know if that happened in this instance, but the family of the woman who died deserves to know everyone who may have played a role in this crash.
