How Did This Accident Occur?
This crash reportedly happened as the semi-truck was turning right. Did the truck driver cause the crash by turning wide? Was its trailer properly connected? Was the driver paying attention to nearby traffic while turning? I don’t claim to know the answers, but these are the kind of things that authorities should consider as they investigate this crash.
Investigators will work to reconstruct this accident by poring over vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what the truck driver was doing at the time, while a forensic examination of the vehicles may be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical issues contributed to the crash.
The trucking company also bears some scrutiny to determine if the driver was properly vetted and trained, and if the truck was overdue for any scheduled maintenance or repairs.
This investigation should give the injured juvenile’s family a clear picture of what caused this crash.
