How Did This Accident Occur?
It is not clear at this point how this crash happened. Did the semi-truck stop suddenly? Was the box truck driver distracted? Did the box truck have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? I don’t claim to know the answer to these questions as I sit at my desk, but they are the kind of things that authorities must consider as they investigate this crash.
They can start by scrutinizing physical evidence, witness statements, data from the trucks and any available video footage to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.
An outside expert likely will be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash, since most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such inspections, in my experience.
A thorough investigation should provide a clear picture of what happened on I-95 for the injured driver and his family.
