How Did This Accident Occur?

Since I deal with commercial vehicle crashes for a living, I have learned not to make snap judgments about a crash based on the information in an initial police report. Those reports rarely tell the whole story about what happened.

For example, this crash could have been caused by driver inattention, as many accidents are, or maybe the truck driver turned wide, leaving no room for the oncoming SUV.

The only way to know for sure is to see what turns up in a thorough investigation of the crash, which should include eyewitness accounts, vehicle data and any available video evidence.
