Accident Report

Pecos County, TX — June 24, 2026, one person was injured in a truck accident at about 10:20 a.m. on westbound Interstate 10.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2019 Freightliner semi-truck with slick or defective tires left the road and overturned while heading west near Hovey Road. The truck also suffered unspecified equipment failure, according to the report.

The driver, a 38-year-old man from Fresno, CA, was seriously injured in the crash between Balmorhea and Fort Stockton, the report states. His name has not been made public yet.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Pecos County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Initial reports note bad tires and equipment failure, but it still isn’t clear at this point what caused this crash.

Authorities likely will rely on vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and any available video footage to reconstruct this accident, but it will probably take a forensic examination of the truck to sort thing out.

The exam should be done by a qualified expert in a laboratory setting. That is not something most law enforcement agencies are equipped to handle, in my experience, but the injured driver and his family deserve to know as much as possible about this crash.

This investigation also should include scrutiny of the trucking company to see if delayed maintenance played a role in this crash.
