How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not clear how these vehicles came into contact at this point. Did they collide head-on while going opposite directions, or did one rear-end the other one? It will be up to investigators to sort that out and determine why the crash happened.

They likely will start by poring over witness statements, physical evidence, data from the trucks and any available video footage to reconstruct the accident. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time of the crash, but investigators likely will need an outside expert to examine the vehicles if they suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this accident. Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such exams, in my experience.

A thorough examination like I’ve described is essential to ensure that the injured driver and his family don’t have nay unanswered questions about this crash.
