How Did This Accident Occur?
Most people who read about a motorcycle crash like this probably assume the rider was at fault, playing into the stereotype that motorcyclists are reckless daredevils. I don’t know the man who was injured in this accident, but I know plenty of riders who are very safety conscious when they’re on the road. This accident deserves a full investigation so the injured rider and his family aren’t left with any unanswered questions about this crash.
It will be good if an investigator who has experience with motorcycle accidents is assigned to this crash. Motorcycle crashes have different dynamics than other vehicle accidents, so an experienced investigator has a better chance of sorting out what happened on Austin Street.
Authorities also should push for an in-depth inspection of the motorcycle to determine if some sort of mechanical issue or manufacturer’s defect contributed to this crash.
