Accident Report

Upshur County, TX —August 7, 2026, one person was injured in a hit-and-run accident at about 4:50 a.m. on F.M. 862 near Gilmer.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was heading northwest when it rear-ended a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja ZX motorcycle near the intersection with Bison Road. The Chevrolet did not stop after the collision.

The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries in the crash, according to the report. Her name has not been made public.
