Accident Report
Laredo, TX — April 4, 2026, one person was injured in a suspected drunk driver accident at about 3:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 83/Guadalupe Street.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a westbound 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee allegedly ran a red light at Cedar Avenue and collided with a northbound 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 19-year-old man whose name has not been made public yet, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. The driver was listed as possibly injured.
The Jeep driver, who reportedly had been drinking before the crash, was possibly injured as well, while one of his passengers suffered minor injuries, the report states. Two others were not hurt.
The Jeep driver was cited for running a red light, according to the report, but he is not facing any additional charges at this time.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Webb County crash.
How Did This Accident Occur?
If authorities can prove the Jeep driver was intoxicated at the time this crash on U.S. 83, they should look beyond the scene of the crash in their investigation.
Under Texas law, alcohol providers can share responsibility for injuries caused by someone who was served while obviously intoxicated. I don’t know if that is what happened before this crash, but it is worth investigating so the injured man and his family will know who may have been responsible for this accident.
Unfortunately, that investigation likely will have to be commissioned by the family, since most law enforcement agencies don’t extend their investigations beyond the accident scene.
