Accident Report
Harris County, TX — March 9, 2026, one person was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 3:15 p.m. on Northwest Freeway/U.S. Highway 290 in Cypress.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a westbound 2017 Toyota Tacoma rear-ended a 2016 Buick LaCrosse just east of Grand Parkway/State Highway 99.
The 26-year-old woman driving the Buick was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. His name has not been made public yet.
The Toyota driver, who also suffered serious injuries, was charged with aggravated assault, the report states. He is suspected of being intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Harris County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
With indications that alcohol played a role in this accident, the investigation should go beyond the scene of the crash on Northwest Freeway.
There is a chance that the Toyota driver may not be the only one accountable for this crash. If he had been drinking at a bar or restaurant before the accident, that provider could share accountability if the driver was served when he was visibly intoxicated.
I don’t know if that is what happened in this instance, but it is worth investigating so the injured Buick driver and her family will know everyone who played a role in this crash.
