Accident Report
Armstrong County, TX — May 30, 2026, one person was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 4:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 287 near Claude.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2014 Chrysler 300C was going to wrong way in the westbound lanes of the highway when it crashed into a 2022 Ford F-150 east of Echo Road.
The Ford driver, a 37-year-old man whose name has not been made public yet, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.
The Chrysler driver, who was listed as possibly injured, was charged with intoxication assault after the crash, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Armstrong County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
If blood tests confirm that the Chrysler driver was intoxicated, the investigation should expand beyond the scene of the crash to figure out where he had been drinking.
It’s one thing if he had been drinking at home, but if he had been at a restaurant or bar that alcohol provider could share responsibility for the injuries caused by this crash if he was served while he was obviously intoxicated. I don’t know if that applies in this instance, but the injured Ford driver and his family deserve to know everyone who may have played a role in this accident.
