How Did This Accident Occur?
Most people would assume the passenger who was ejected from the pickup in Edinburg was not wearing a seatbelt, but in my experience seatbelts fail much more often than people ever know.
It also is worth looking into whether the passenger was defective. Most seatbelts are meant to provide vehicle occupants from an impact from the front or back. The sideways forced exerted in a sharp turn are something else entirely.
Someone who understands seatbelts and how they are supposed to work should look into this accident. The injured woman’s family deserves to know if the equipment that should have protected her failed or was not designed properly.
Have you ever had problems with a seatbelt that didn’t work properly? Tell us about that experience in the comments.
