Accident Report

Kaufman County, TX — July 28, 2026, one person was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 9:15 p.m. on F.M. 3396 west of Tolosa.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2005 Ford Econoline van was heading west when it collided with an eastbound 2018 Chevrolet Equinox near Haynie Farms Lane.

The Chevrolet driver, a 19-year-old man, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. His name has not been made public yet.

The two men in the van were not hurt, the report states, but the 49-year-old driver was charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Kaufman County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Authorities likely will investigate this crash like any other injury accident, but if a blood test confirms the Ford driver was intoxicated, they should look beyond the scene. They should try to figure out where he had been drinking before the crash.

That matters because alcohol providers can be held responsible under Texas law for injuries caused in drunk driving accidents if the driver was served while obviously intoxicated.

I don’t know if that is what happened in this instance, but the Chevrolet driver and his family deserve to know everyone who may have played a role in this accident.
