How Did This Accident Occur?
Based on what we know so far, there is no way to know how this crash happened. Was the pedestrian trying to cross the highway, or walking along the shoulder? Was the pedestrian visible, or was the Ford driver not paying enough attention to the road? Or did the pickup have some sort of mechanical problem?
Investigators should be able to answer these questions after poring over evidence at the scene, data from the pickup’s engine control module, witness statements and any available traffic or dashcam footage of the accident. In my experience, the facts unearthed in the investigation can provide these answers for those affected by this crash.
