How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people likely will assume this crash was caused by an inexperienced driver, given his age, but what if another vehicle forced the Toyota off the road? Or the car had a problem with its steering mechanism? These are realistic possibilities, given what I’ve seen over the course of my career.

The key is waiting until you have as many facts as possible from the investigation of this crash before reaching any conclusions about how the Toyota went off Randol Mill Road. Those facts will come from reviewing witness statements, evidence at the scene, data from the car’s engine control module and any available video footage of the crash. A forensic examination could be necessary to diagnose any mechanical problems that may have contributed to the crash.
