Accident Report

La Porte, TX — April 5, 2026, one person was injured in a single-vehicle accident at about 4:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of West M Street.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2016 Cadillac CTS was heading west when it crashed into a stop sign at the intersection with Powell Road.

The driver was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report, while her passenger suffered minor injuries.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Harris County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Was the Cadillac driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone? Or did the car have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? There is no way to know for sure what caused this crash without waiting for a full investigation to be completed.

Witness statements, evidence from the scene, data from the car’s engine control module and any available video footage should provide some answers, but investigators may have to dig deeper. Cell phone records may show what the driver was doing before the crash, but an independent expert may be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to the crash. Most law enforcement agencies aren’t capable of the necessary forensic examination, in my experience.

These steps are necessary to provide answers for those injured in this crash and their families.
