How Did This Accident Occur?
It would be easy to assume the Ford driver was reckless in trying to pass other vehicles on the right, but what if he had a medical emergency? Or what if his truck’s throttle got stuck, causing unexpected acceleration? Or if the pickup had an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? A thorough investigation should get to the cause of this crash, based on facts, not assumptions or guesswork.
Authorities likely will pore over physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage as they work to reconstruct this crash, but an independent should examine the vehicles if authorities suspect a mechanical issue played a role in this crash. Most law enforcement agencies lack the time or training for such inspections, but the injured driver and his family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this accident.
