Reeves County, TX — February 10, 2026, one person was injured in a car accident at about 3:45 a.m. on Interstate 20 southwest of Toya.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2026 GMC Sierra was heading northwest when it collided with an unoccupied 2015 Chevrolet Malibu and overturned.
The GMC driver, a 35-year-old Wyoming man, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. His name has not been made public yet.

How Did This Accident Occur?
It would be easy to conclude this crash happened before the GMC driver wasn’t paying attention to the road in front of him, unless you consider that one very important question hasn’t been addressed so far. Was the Chevrolet stopped on the shoulder or in a traffic lane?
That question alone shows the need for a full investigation of this crash, but there are more questions to be answered. Why was the Chevrolet stopped in the first place? Were its hazard lights activated so it was visible to other drivers? Did the GMC pickup have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism that contributed to this crash?
Investigators should be able to answers these questions by going over evidence from the scene, data from the vehicles and any available traffic or dashcam footage. A forensic review of the vehicles may be need to rule out any mechanical issues, but that likely would require an outside expert, since in my experience most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or trainigng for that kind of examination.
