How Did This Accident Occur?

The Toyota driver was issued a traffic citation after the crash, but that doesn’t mean the collision was his fault. The ticket was based on one officer’s assessment of the accident, but a full investigation may reach a different conclusion.

Investigators will pore over physical evidence, witness statements, vehicle data and any available video footage as they work to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time, but if authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to the crash an outside expert likely will be needed to examine the vehicles.

Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such inspections, in my experience, but the injured passenger and his family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this crash.
