How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not hard to imagine a driver nodding off and going off the road at 2:30 in the morning, but what if something else caused this crash? Maybe the driver swerved to avoid something in the road. Maybe the Ford swerved to avoid another vehicle or an object in the road. Or maybe the pickup had a mechanical issue that affected its brakes or steering mechanism.

In my experience, the only way to sort out what actually happened is to complete a full investigation of this crash, based on physical evidence, data from the pickup’s engine control module and any available dashcam video. Cell phone records may provide some insight into what the driver was doing at the time of the crash, while a forensic examination of the truck could show if it had any mechanical probles that contributed to the crash.
