Harris County, TX — September 25, 2023, Omar Afify was injured as the result of an alleged intoxicated driver accident which apparently resulted in charges.
Details are still limited right now, but county officials give preliminary information about their investigations into the accident.
Authorities said that Omar Ahmed Ali Afify was involved in a motor vehicle accident, causing serious bodily injuries. The driver allegedly responsible for that was accused of being intoxicated at the time of the accident. Public information shows that the allegedly intoxicated driver was charged for Intoxication Assault.

One thing I don’t see in these initial reports is if police are also looking into where the apparent alcohol came from. Over the years when our firm has pursued personal injury claims against bars and other negligent businesses, I’ve found authorities down in Harris County are more thorough than other counties when it comes to holding both drunk drivers and the alcohol providers who over-serve them accountable. But Houston and its surrounding cities cover a big area, to say the least. Authorities can’t catch every negligent business following a serious crash on their own, which is one of the reasons I talk about these kinds of accidents so much on this blog.
The more people that understand that alcohol providers can be responsible for contributing to these serious crashes, the more often victims and families will be direct and ask authorities whether or not they’re investigating the possibility of a negligent alcohol provider following their accidents.
